WAS THE PHONE-OFF DAY DEMONSTRATION WORTH IT?

Let's be honest here, how many people put off their phones on May 27?Well,I didn't and I know you also didn't because we didn't see the point behind the protest. After all,the estimated USD 6million that was anticipated to be lost by the telecommunication companies is peanuts to them. And who said the lost that much after the protest?

In an attempt to present the grievances and complaints of consumers to the telecommunication networks in the country,a 6-hour phone of day was organised.Everyone was supposed to put off his phone last Thursday from 6 a.m to 12 p.m.

On the said date, the protestors mostly made of students stormed the streets of Accra with placards like"MTN, Tigo, Kasapa, Vodafone and Zain, the value is the same" and "azaa text promotions".

It was even amazing that some of the protestants themselves didn't even put off their phones.Afterall,it's their phones that they use as primary means of communication.

In my opinion, the "Ghana Off Phone Day" was a step in the right direction, just that it was quite an unrealistic approach because people wouldn't want put off their phones.

We use our hard-earned money to purchase credit and also use some for their fake promotions therefore the  telecommunication companies(MTN,Tigo,Vodafone,Kasapa and Zain) are mandated to provide excellent services.

What do you think? Are the telecommunication industries living up to expectation?

IS SARKODIE POPULAR THAN PRESIDENT MILLS?

According to Sarkodie,Ghana's fastest rapper,"people listen to him more than the president of Ghana".
He made this statement at the press launch of Vodafone's concert last friday to commemorate vodadone's 1st anniversary in Ghana.

A report from peacefmonline.com states that Sarkodie made this statement,“You know what time it is, I mean people listen to me much more than the president himself because it is Sarkodie everywhere you go...So I think I am the right person to speak to Ghanaians. I am on board particularly because I think you did that for the people."

“I roam the whole of Ghana playing shows in Kumasi and everywhere for free, I do a lot charity works so for this one I just took some few coins from vodafone because they can’t really pay me...,” he explained.

Well,Ghanaians are not happy with Sarkodie's statements at all and the fact that he won so many awards doesn't mean he should be proud. But we still love him though because it's always one time for your mind.

Anyway,he recently apologized to his fans by making a song, you could listen to it myjoyonline

020 LIVE CONCERT WAS A BLAST!

Vodafone's one year celebration in Ghana dubbed 020 live concert
was a BLAST!With popular artists like Sarkodie,Wande Coal,P-square,Ruff N Smooth,Richie,4X4 and others in the building made it a show worth writing home about. The show held on Saturday 22 May at the Accra International Conference Centre also was the launch of Vodafone's World of Difference programme in Ghana.

The concert was a good one but the problem some people had was with the sale of the tickets.Afterall,we are helping them celebrate their anniversary so it should have been free. However,it didn't stop people from attending and was a successful RED concert.

Ghanaians will like to congratulate Vodafone on a successful first year of operation in the country.
We also looking forward to excellent products and great operations from them to maintain our patronage.

SHOULD CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS BE BANNED FROM FACEBOOK?

Facebook is undoubtedly the most visited website ever, even bypassing search engine giants,Google.
Even though facebook minimum age requirements is 13 years,we cannot deny that even 7 yr-olds are on facebook.LOL.
It's not like the facebook team can check everyone's birth certificates which makes children to use a false age to access the site.

Children under 18 years are found facebooking most of the time chatting with friends, commenting on photos and so many more.
Honestly, there are a few teenagers who use facebook for project work, school event planning and homework help. But how many are they anyway?

The question now is,should children under 18 years be banned?

In my opinion, children under 18 years should be banned from facebook because of the following reasons:

1.DISTRACTION FROM SCHOOL WORK.

2.WASTE OF TIME.

3.IDENTITY THEFT AND LACK OF CONTROL.

4.RISK OF BEING BULLIED.

5.SUSCEPTIBLE TO INTERNET FRAUD AND SCAMS.

6.RISK OF BEING HARMED BY PEDOPHILES.

On the other hand, banning children from facebook completely will make their curious minds to resort to some bad and porn sites.
And afterall,it is a social network, therefore it's meant for everyone to make new friends and learn from others.
What do you think?Should children under 18 years be banned from facebook?

Please feel free to post your comments.

GT BANK STUDENTS DISCOUNT CARD-A BETTER WAY TO SAVE

Summer vacation is underway and we are trying our best to save little bits
of money for next semester(more chilling :D).
Well,there is good news!

Guaranty Trust Bank(GT Bank) is making it possible for students to enjoy
great discounts from supermarkets, clubs and shops in the country via the
Students Discount Card.

FEATURES OF THE STUDENTS DISCOUNT CARD
1.It can be used on all VISA-labelled ATM machines and Point of Sale terminals in the country.
2.Free internet banking,SMS banking and 24-hr access to your money.
3.High interest bearing savings account.
4.50% discount on school fees drafts made at the bank.

Despite the numerous advantages of the card, most of the discount facilitiesbwould benefit students in Accra more than those outside Accra. The reason is that, most of the merchant outlets are based in Accra, for example,Blazing Gear,Aphrodisiac Night Club,Spendstre Fotoshop(Accra Mall).

Also, for the school fees discount scheme,it might depend on your school.University of Ghana, for instance, accepts banker's draft from only Standard Chartered Bank and Ecobank(international students).
KNUST also accepts drafts from a few selected banks.

So all in all,I think the students discount card is a good investment for students as it could inculcate the habit of savings whilst enjoying other great benefits.

Only students above 16 years can apply for the card at any of their branches
or online at their website.

Are you wondering what you must do before going to the university, find out HERE
